Keeping it "real" and aligned with the morays and vision present when it was first dreamt up is challenging as well. This whole blog is an avenue to keep in sight those visions and to keep myself grounded (not get lost in the Biz completely). People have been coming to us from all over the world (we can honestly say now that we currently serve 4 continents, growing seemingly by day) as it looks like we've struck a nerve - People Need Custom Jeans!

Why? Because they're sick of being forced by brands to Settle...I mean really, why should they? When they can get what they want and have it fit the way it is supposed to, everything's right in the world. I had an inkling that we were on to something good and the last couple of years with all the research and study we did it sure seemed that way, but truly had no idea the kind of response we'd get so quickly. We are extremely thankful to say the least!

It's pretty breathtaking to take something from a nugget of an idea and see it come to fruition so beautifully. I'm very, very thankful to all those who've helped us along the way with words of encouragement, great ideas, and exuberance matching our own. I've yet to meet a nay-sayer to our business model, and I think we do more than surround ourselves with supposed "yes" men. The consultants we have on our board and those we've retained have all expressed the confidence in going full steam ahead...And I love that it's been smooth sailing thus far (knock on wood).

Custom jeans are a true salve to the wounds of jeans wearers everywhere...And I'm glad to be providing the medicine. It allows us to continue on our own philanthropical directives and make a real difference in our communities. We've done all the well-known stuff, professing our sorrow about the recent hurricanes in the Gulf and providing funds to the Red Cross and affiliate charities. It was a right and popular thing to do. As a U.S.-based custom jean company, we felt it was our duty not only as Americans, but as Humans to help out any way we could. But we can and are doing so much more than that. There's more pain and sorrow in the world than what's shown to us in news bites during a 30 minute show. There's also many more noble causes and great opportunities for positive change than what's read in the Sunday paper. Our mission is to actively weed out and support those and other opportunities to provide Real assistance to Real people with Real results. That's why we base everything on being a company founded in a term we coined as Front-End Philanthropy. Feel free to read about is more on our site (In the Help Section under Our Philosophy) as we're sticking to our word...

We are very careful about our jeans-making process to ensure we are environmentally friendly. Not because it's the politically correct thing to profess, but because it's the Right the to do. Custom jeans (and any jeans manufacturing, actually) takes a tremendous amount of water to produce. That's why we are so careful about water reclamation and ensuring that our processes do not impact Mother Earth negatively. Hey - I have two beautiful children myself, and I want them to enjoy this world as well, as healthily and happily as they can. We'll do our part to keep it so.

Thanks for letting ramble on (a little) about the virtues of custom jeans and how mejeans is really the perfect answer to peoples' jeans dilemmas. Obviously my opinion just Might be a little biased, but as far as I see it, custom jeans are truly a great thing, and I'm honored to be able to bring it to the masses in an affordable, dependable, and easy way. Keep an eye out for mejeans and our custom jeans - There are some Very big things brewing for us, which you will undoubtedly hear about in the next few weeks (I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag)...I think you'll agree - It's pretty cool when it's all said and done.

Okay - I'm out. Take care, God Bless, and enjoy (and celebrate) your individuality! You certainly deserve it!

Okay - Now the whole foot is in...

Baby steps...Baby steps...Baby steps...

Remember that movie "What About Bob?" with Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss? That little mantra is soooo right. Sometimes, you have to look at the world around in very small glimpses - Otherwise you get overwhelmed and end up not focusing on anything.

It's also true about launching a company. Over the last two years, many a night I've laid in bed deep in the hours, staring at the ceiling and wondering what the moment would be like when I finally do launch this big ol' bad boy (or girl) named mejeans. How would mejeans.com be received? How will it do? What will customers think? Is it too much? Is it too little? Will it be an instant success or will it start off real slow, building steam (hopefully) steadily and over time? Okay - That's a lot of thoughts...So either I was trying to be a realist and cover all my possible bases, or perhaps I just needed (or still need) a really good therapist :)

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with but the first step" (or something like that)...Deep, huh? It's one of those cliche's that ring true (unless you're just floating down a river for a thousand miles - but then on the other hand you have to actually get In the boat...But I digress) now and forever, especially today. So we've made our first step. How big of a step is it?

I guess it doesn't matter, really. A step in a focused direction, no matter how big or small, is a success of sorts...A START. Kinetic motion perpetuated, or some similar type situation. So we've made our first step - Does that mean we're a success? I'd say far from it, but I like what we're thinking (and doing)!

Had another interview today with an even larger newspaper (one of the largest in the country, actually) - It's interesting to do an interview, really...I find myself wanting to be open, honest, exuberant, excited, purposeful, sincere, thoughtful, expressive, congenial, shy, funny, flattered, proud, laid-back, confident, knowledgeable, and just Real, ya know? As a regular human being, I'm all of those things when someone wants to know more about this mad science project I've created (I think anyone would be with something they've created, whether it be a small trinket or a large scale project - You hope for the accolades/recognition of a sort, especially when your invention involves monetary return, yet always a little nicely surprised when it comes. When you simply expect the accolades and recognition is when you've lost sense of what it's all about)...I just hope I can come across as being Me without seeming swarmy, stuck-up, ignorant, sales-ish...I hope when I gush about the product (yes folks, I've been known to gush), I don't seem too silly, wacky, or fake. I'm just really deeply emotionally attached to what has been created here...It's like having a kid!

You know what? I just came to a decision - I'm just going to be me, and hope they like what they get. If not, too bad! I might be a self-deprecating dork, but custom-made jeans...now that's cool! :)

Well, I'll tell y'all when the articles publish...Should be some good reading, I hope. Both interviewers seemed really stoked about the idea and the company, what we stand for, our philosophies and all, so I'm really very pleased. It's nice to feel we're on the right track!

Okay, enough typing...Take care, feel free to check out mejeans.com and tell your friends about it, and I'll keep you posted. If you ever have a question, please feel free to ask, and have a great night!

First toe in the water...

Alllllrighty-then!

Wow...What a whirlwind it's been over the past week! Launching the company, making sure all the pieces are in place (fingers crossed), working on getting the word out. Hmmm...Marketing IS important, huh? :)

So many thoughts, so many directions...But at least I know that it's finally moving forward. 2 years of a lot of Blood, Sweat, and Tears (and I'm not just talking about the band) and finally it's launched...I somewhat feel like I can finally exhale a little, you know? But not too much...Too much to do.

I guess I could use this forum to spout off about all of the philosophical angles I have about the product, it's impact on our customers, the company's presence in the world, etc, etc, etc...I've covered that pretty well in the site itself, so if you wish, feel free to check it out - I hope you like it.

I did want to point out that one of the cornerstones of this venture is to be an excellent corporate citizen...Beyond reproach in our contact with the community, being more of an asset than merely a brand. Sounds great in theory, but how about in function? Well, I'm happy to say I think we have that covered as well as a true path for the future...Assisted in building a playground for a local grade school (not only with money, but also sweat equity), in contact with scholarship organizations, and of course in light of the situation(s) on the Gulf, giving to the Red Cross...And this is all before we were even launched!

One of the other cornerstones is bringing to the masses a product that truly everyone can be involved in...And making it work (that kinda helps, doesn't it?). A lot of trial and error there...A great concept does not always translate smoothly into practical application, I've come to personally find out. However, with some hard work and sticktuitiveness, we're right where we want to be, thank goodness.

Getting interviewed for the first time was quite the trip, I must say. The reporter was super nice and very interested...I'm just not used to thinking about what not to say (I'm usually trying to remember what TO say)...I guess a future as a lawyer is not for me *LOL*. Good time, though...Taking the pictures was a little unnerving, though. Felt like I had my perma-grin fakey smile on the whole time. I hope it looks okay when the article comes out...We'll see.

I'll keep ya posted. Signing off for now...
